What does devil's claw naturally contain?
Harpagophytum grows in the semi-arid regions of southern Africa, particularly in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. Its nickname “devil's claw” comes from its fruits, which bear distinctive hooks.
In herbal medicine, it is mainly the tuberous secondary roots that are used. They contain iridoid glycosides, including harpagoside, regarded as one of the main quality markers of extracts.
The 4.7% standardisation of the SFB formula corresponds to 18.8 mg of harpagosides per capsule, or 56.4 mg for a daily intake of three capsules.

Harpagophytum, joints and mobility: what should you know?
Harpagophytum is traditionally associated with maintaining joint comfort and mobility. Its use in herbal medicine is based in particular on the natural presence of iridoid glycosides in its roots.
However, this traditional use does not mean that this food supplement can treat osteoarthritis, rheumatism or joint pain. It is not a substitute for appropriate medical care.
