What does the claw of the devil naturally contain?
Harpagophytum grows in semi-arid regions of southern Africa, particularly in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. Its nickname of "claw of the devil" comes from its fruits with characteristic square brackets.
In herbal medicine, it is mainly the Tuberized secondary roots which are used. They contain iridoid glycosides, includingharpagoside, considered one of the main quality markers of extracts.
Titration at 4.7% of the SFB formula corresponds to 18.8 mg Harpagosides by capsule, or 56.4 mg for a daily catch of three capsules.

Harpagophytum is traditionally associated with Maintaining joint comfort and mobility. Its use in herbal medicine is based in particular on the natural presence of iridoid glycosides in its roots.
This traditional use does not mean, however, that this dietary supplement can treat osteoarthritis, rheumatism or joint pain. It does not replace a suitable medical care.
