Folate in a directly active form
Folique activ' provides vitamin B9 in the form of 5-MTHF (5-methyltetrahydrofolate), the active, methylated form of folate.
Unlike conventional folic acid, this form does not require the same enzymatic conversion steps before it can be used by the body.
Each capsule provides 400 µg of Quatrefolic® active vitamin B9, i.e. 200% of the reference intakes.

A vitamin B9 already in its active form
Conventional folic acid has to undergo several conversions in the body before reaching its biologically active form.
Quatrefolic® directly provides 5-MTHF, an active, methylated form of vitamin B9 that does not require this enzymatic conversion.
This form also stands out for its excellent stability and is 7x better absorbed than folic acid.

Why is vitamin B9 particularly important?
Folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy, notably in the placenta, breasts and uterus.
Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.
