Vegan omega-3 + olive oil
DHA and EPA from microalgae
TocoProtect by Dr. Jacob’s® combines Greek extra virgin olive oil (first cold pressing), the omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) from microalgae, and tocopherols, a natural blend of plant-based vitamin E.
Each 5 ml serving provides 170 mg DHA, 85 mg EPA and 30 mg vitamin E. Its citrus flavour means it can be taken neat or used in salads and cold dishes. Made in Germany.

Why microalgae?
A fish-free source of DHA and EPA
The body does not make DHA and EPA directly: they have to come from the diet, particularly from oily fish. To limit exposure to heavy metals, it is best to avoid eating large amounts of big fish at the top of the food chain, such as tuna or salmon, and to favour small oily fish (herring, sardines, etc.).
Vegetable oils rich in omega-3, such as linseed, rapeseed or walnut oil, provide an omega-3 that the body can convert into DHA and EPA. However, this conversion is difficult, and the enzyme required is sometimes insufficient or even absent.
TocoProtect provides DHA and EPA directly, extracted from the microalga Schizochytrium sp. This single-celled alga is cultivated for its natural richness in DHA and EPA:
- produced away from pollutants and heavy metals;
- environmentally and animal friendly;
- suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Natural vitamin E
The 4 natural tocopherols
What sets the vitamin E in TocoProtect apart is that it brings together the natural synergy of the 4 tocopherols, around 50% of which is gamma-tocopherol. Food supplements often contain only alpha-tocopherol.
A 5 ml serving contains around 75 mg of tocopherols, i.e. 30 mg of vitamin E in alpha-tocopherol equivalents.
Good to know
An oil with low sensitivity to oxidation
The microalgae oil, the component most sensitive to oxidation, has a Totox value of 3, a sign of a very low level of oxidation. Olive oil, made up mainly of omega-9 (monounsaturated) fatty acids, is not very sensitive to oxidation, and the formula also contains vitamin E. This oil should only be used cold.
