The coenzyme Q10 is a relative relative of vitamin K by its chemical structure. She was discovered in 1957 in the United States by a researcher who isolated her in mitochondria from the heart of an ox.
The coenzyme Q10 is made in an endogenous manner by our body and is exogenously brought by our diet (beef, chicken, sardine, nuts, almonds ...). However, the endogenous production of coenzyme Q10 gradually decreases over time when it participates in a large number of biochemical reactions. That's why it's interesting to take a complement.
In our body, the coenzyme Q10 exists mainly in two forms: the ubiquinone, an oxidized form which, under the action of enzymes, turns into ubiquinol, a reduced form (the active form).
