The propolis is a natural substance made by bees from resins harvested on buds and bark of certain trees. They then mix it with wax and their own secretions to protect the hive and maintain a healthy environment.

Used since antiquity, propolis is today a very appreciated asset in the Natural food supplements, especially for the routines oriented natural defenses, throat, mouth and well-being seasonal.

What is propolis?

Propolis is often called "shield of the hive". Bees use it to clutter small openings, clean the inside of the hive and protect the colony against external aggression.

Its composition varies according to botanical origin, season and harvesting area. It naturally contains vegetable resins, waxes, essential oils, flavonoids and various aromatic compounds.

The main compounds of propolis

The wealth of propolis is based on its complex composition. It contains in particular flavonoids, polyphenols and resinous substances from plants.

Vegetable resins harvested on buds and trees
Flavonoids and polyphenols naturally present
Aromatic waxes and compounds from the hive
Active of natural origin, variable according to the terroir

Why use propolis?

Propolis is particularly sought after during seasonal changes in autumn and winter. It is often integrated into the formulas dedicated to the throat, at the ORL sphere, oral hygiene or support of natural defenses.

It is found in different forms: liquid extract, groove spray, gum, pellets, capsules, syrup or bulbs. This diversity makes it easy to adapt it to everyone's needs and preferences.

Green, brunette or red propolis: what differences?

There are several types of propolis according to geographical and plant origin. The brunette propolis is the most common in Europe. The green propolis, often from Brazil, comes from specific plants. The red propolis is rarer and stands out for its particular color and vegetable profile.

Each propolis has a clean composition. The choice therefore depends on the desired use, the concentration of the extract and the quality of the raw material.

How to choose a quality propolis?

To choose a complement based on propolis, it is important to look at the origin of the propolis, the concentration of the extract, the proposed form and the possible presence of other associated assets.

Favor a clearly indicated origin
Check the concentration or titration of the extract
Choose a suitable shape: Spray, pellets, capsules or liquid extract
Avoid unnecessarily overloaded formulas
Consider the presence of alcohol, sugar or allergens

Precautions for use

Propolis is a product from the hive. It is not recommended for people allergic to the products of the hive, pollen or bee bites. In case of pregnancy, breastfeeding, medical treatment or allergic grounds, it is better to seek advice from a health professional.

As with any food supplement, propolis should be used as part of a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Propolis, a unavoidable natural asset

Emblematic asset of the hive, the propolis seduced by its natural origin, its richness in plant compounds and its versatility. It integrates easily into a well-being routine, especially during periods of cold, fatigue or seasonal changes.
